normal girl [poem]

I am
A normal girl.
I get acne where my glasses rest against my cheeks and
I don't shave the places I can't reach
Most of the time, I don't shave at all.
I am
A normal girl.
I have long conversations with my friends and
Every so often, those relationships end
Sometimes, I end them myself.
I am
A normal girl.
I get self-conscious when I’m high and
I’m scared to talk to guys
But I’m more scared to talk to other girls.
I am
A normal girl.
I feel uncomfortable in dress-up clothes and
I hate heels with pointed toes
Usually, I wish I could’ve dressed like the men.
I am
A normal girl.
I get happy when people call me “he” and
I really don’t care which bathroom I use when I just have to pee
And occasionally, I’ll get weird looks.
I am
A normal girl.
I browse the male section for button-downs and
People probably look at me funny while I’m rummaging for discounts
But the truth is, I often wish I were a boy.
